Keith Scanlan Guitar, Electric Bass, Mandolin, Banjo
Hello, I’m Keith. I love music and I’ve been teaching since 1999. Stringed instruments are my specialty with an emphasis on Electric/Acoustic Guitar and Electric Bass. Over the years, I have helped hundreds of musicians develop their ability to play the type of music that interests them. Practicing becomes much more fun and rewarding when we are playing the songs that we have a personal connection to.
Music is an exciting language! It’s important that we learn how to communicate that language effectively through our knowledge and ability. In other words, we want to be able to give great performances and play well with other musicians by listening to them and responding thoughtfully. Topics like ear training, sight reading, music theory, solo/ensemble performance, and improvisation are all vital to becoming well-rounded.
I’m an active performer with many years of professional experience playing with various sized ensembles in and out of the state. I’ve studied many forms of music with great musicians and on my own. Creativity is important to me, whether it’s writing an original tune or occasionally putting a fresh spin on an existing song. It is yet another experience that leads to personal growth.
